At E Louise Beauty, we work to the highest standards of care throughout your aesthetics and semi-permanent brow treatment and we want you to be happy with your experience and results. To ensure this we have compiled a list of guidelines and frequently asked questions to promote good healing results and longevity of your cosmetic procedure.
Q: Do I need a consultation before treatment?
Yes — all new clients must have a consultation before any injectable or advanced skin treatment. This allows us to discuss your goals, assess your suitability, and create a personalised treatment plan to achieve the best, most natural results.
Q: Are aesthetic treatments painful?
Most treatments are very comfortable. We use high-quality numbing agents and advanced techniques to minimise discomfort. You may feel a slight pinch or pressure, but most clients find the experience very manageable.
Q: How long do dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments last?
Results vary by individual and treatment area, but typically:
Dermal fillers: 6–18 months
Anti-wrinkle injections: 3–4 months
Regular maintenance helps to keep your results looking fresh and consistent.
Q: How long will it take to see results?
Anti-wrinkle injections begin to take effect within 3–5 days, with full results in around 2 weeks.
Dermal fillers provide immediate improvement, though mild swelling may take a few days to settle.
Skin boosters and fat dissolving often require a few sessions for noticeable, lasting results.
Q: What is the downtime after treatment?
Most clients can return to normal activities immediately. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising, which usually subsides within a few days. Aftercare advice will be provided to ensure the best results and a smooth recovery.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your treatment:
Anti-wrinkle / filler: Usually one session, with maintenance every few months.
Fat dissolving, microneedling, and skin boosters: Typically a course of 3–5 sessions for best results.
We’ll discuss this during your consultation.
Q: Can I combine treatments?
Absolutely. Many clients combine injectables with skin treatments for a more complete rejuvenation. We’ll help you design a safe, effective combination plan that complements your features and goals.
SPMU (SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP) BROWS FAQs
Q: What is SPMU for brows?
SPMU (semi-permanent makeup) is a cosmetic tattoo technique that enhances your natural brows using ultra-fine pigment. It can create hair-like strokes, soft shading, or a combination of both for beautifully defined, low-maintenance brows.
Q: How long do SPMU brows last?
Results typically last 12–24 months, depending on your skin type, aftercare, and lifestyle. A yearly colour boost is recommended to keep your brows looking fresh.
Q: Is the treatment painful?
Most clients experience minimal discomfort. A topical numbing cream is applied before and during treatment to keep you as comfortable as possible.
Q: What’s the healing process like?
Your brows may appear slightly darker for the first few days before softening to your final colour. Mild flaking or scabbing is normal during the first week. Full healing takes around 6-8 weeks, after which a top-up session perfects the results.
Q: How do I prepare for my SPMU appointment?
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (like ibuprofen) for 24 hours before your treatment. Come with clean skin and no brow makeup. You’ll receive full pre-appointment instructions to help you prepare.
Q: Can I still tint or shape my brows afterwards?
You won’t need to for a while! Once healed, your brows will already have shape and colour. However, you can still have gentle maintenance (like tweezing stray hairs) once the skin is fully healed.
Q: Will my brows look natural?
Yes — at E Louise Beauty, we specialise in creating natural, flattering results that suit your features and personal style. Whether you prefer a soft, fluffy finish or a more defined look, your brows will always be tailored to you.
What To Expect
At E Louise Beauty, every client is fully informed before treatment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and transparent experience. We take great care to explain all potential risks and aftercare requirements for both aesthetic and semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) treatments.
Aesthetic Treatments
All injectable and skin treatments are performed using advanced techniques and premium products. Despite every precaution, minor risks are possible — including temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or mild tenderness at the injection site. These symptoms are normal and usually resolve within a few days.
Although rare, allergic reactions or vascular complications can occur. All clients are assessed carefully prior to treatment to minimise risks, and emergency protocols are always in place.
Results vary depending on individual anatomy, skin type, and lifestyle. Some treatments — such as skin boosters, polynucleotides, microneedling, or fat dissolving — require multiple sessions (typically 3–5) to achieve the best and most noticeable results.
There is no absolute guarantee of how long results will last, as longevity depends on your metabolism, product used, and how well you maintain your skin post-treatment. Proper aftercare is essential to support healing and maintain results.
SPMU Brows
Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) is a form of cosmetic tattooing. Although performed with precision and the highest hygiene standards, it does involve breaking the skin. Temporary swelling, redness, or mild itching may occur after treatment and usually subsides within a few days.
Every skin type retains pigment differently. Colour and intensity may fade or change slightly during healing, and a top-up appointment (around 6 weeks later) is usually required to perfect the result. For oily or resistant skin, additional sessions may be needed to maintain colour depth.
In the first week, brows may appear darker and thicker (up to 40%) than the final healed result. Small scabs or flaking can occur — this is a normal part of healing. Picking or scratching can affect the final result and must be avoided.
As SPMU is semi-permanent, results will gradually fade over time. Longevity varies by skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure. There is no guarantee of pigment retention, and yearly colour boosts are recommended to maintain your desired look.
Before Treatment - Client are advised;
At E Louise Beauty, your comfort, safety, and results are our top priority. Please follow the pre-treatment guidelines below carefully to ensure the best possible outcome for your procedure.
Before Your SPMU Brow Treatment
To prepare your skin and reduce sensitivity, please:
Avoid coffee, alcohol, and energy drinks for 24 hours before your appointment.
Do not take blood-thinning medications or supplements such as Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Ibuprofen, or Fish Oil for 24 hours prior.
Avoid waxing, threading, or tinting your brows for 2–3 days before your treatment.
Avoid tanning, sunbeds, or intense sun exposure for at least 3 days prior.
If you use retinoids or retinol products, please stop using them at least 3 days before your treatment.
Avoid Botox or filler treatments around the forehead, temples, or eye area for 4 weeks before your appointment.
No chemical peels, laser treatments, dermabrasion, or intense facials for 2 months prior.
Following these steps helps ensure that your skin is calm, balanced, and ready to absorb pigment evenly for the best healed results.
Before Your Aesthetic Treatment
To minimise swelling, bruising, and sensitivity — and to ensure optimal results:
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications or supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, etc.) for 24–48 hours before treatment.
Do not have any dental work (including cleaning or whitening) within 2 weeks before or after lip filler.
Refrain from intense exercise, heat exposure, or saunas for 24 hours before treatment.
Avoid active skin products such as retinol, acids, or exfoliants for 3–5 days prior.
Postpone treatment if you are unwell, have a cold sore, skin infection, or active acne in the area to be treated.
For skin boosters, microneedling, or peels, please come with clean skin — no makeup, tan, or SPF.
Ensure you’ve eaten and hydrated well before your appointment to help minimise dizziness or faintness.
Aftercare - What to do after your treatment
Aftercare for SPMU Brows
To achieve the best healed results, please follow the aftercare instructions carefully. Proper healing is essential for long-lasting pigment and beautiful results.
For the first 7 days:
Apply the aftercare ointment provided starting from day 4, or when your brows begin to scab or flake (whichever happens first).
Apply a thin layer twice daily — morning and evening — for the next 7 days to prevent scabbing and dryness.
Only use aftercare products provided or approved by your artist. Other creams or balms may cause irritation or infection.
Keep brows completely dry — avoid getting them wet while washing, showering, or sweating. Disposable brow shields can be used for extra protection.
Avoid applying makeup or skincare products directly on or around the treated area.
Avoid exercise, saunas, facial steaming, and excessive sweating until the skin is fully healed.
For the next 30 days:
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and sunbathing.
Do not have chemical peels, microdermabrasion, fruit acid treatments, or laser procedures (e.g., IPL, Fraxel) over the treated area.
Avoid creams containing retinol, acids, or regenerative ingredients near the brows.
Once healed, protect your brows from UV rays by applying SPF daily.
Be aware that antibiotics and hormonal changes can cause faster pigment fading.
Improper aftercare can affect pigment retention and overall healing.
Aftercare For Aesthetic Treatments
Immediately after treatment:
Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness is completely normal and should subside within a few days.
Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours, unless instructed otherwise by your practitioner.
Stay upright for 4 hours after injectables — do not lie flat or lean forward.
Avoid applying makeup, SPF, or skincare to the treated area for 24 hours.
Apply a cool compress if needed to reduce swelling (do not apply ice directly to the skin).
Avoid hot environments such as saunas, steam rooms, or direct heat exposure.
For the first 7 days:
Avoid intense exercise, facials, massage, or skincare treatments that may disturb the area.
Do not consume alcohol or take anti-inflammatory medication (Aspirin, Ibuprofen) unless medically necessary, as these can increase bruising.
Keep the area clean and free from makeup for at least 24 hours, and avoid touching unnecessarily.
Avoid active skincare ingredients such as retinol, acids, or exfoliants.
Any bruising can be concealed after 24 hours using clean, mineral-based makeup.
For the next 2–4 weeks:
Avoid dental work for 2 weeks after lip filler to prevent product movement or infection.
Postpone any laser, peel, or microneedling treatments in the same area for at least 2–4 weeks.
Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning; apply SPF daily once initial healing is complete.
Hydrate well and maintain a healthy skincare routine to support your results.
For treatments like skin boosters, microneedling, or fat dissolving, a course of 3–5 sessions may be recommended for the most noticeable results.
Additional Notes:
Results will continue to develop as swelling settles — this can take up to 2 weeks for injectables and several weeks for collagen-stimulating or fat-dissolving treatments.
If you experience unusual pain, severe swelling, or signs of infection, contact E Louise Beauty immediately for advice.
Proper aftercare is essential for both safety and optimal results.
E Louise Beauty cannot be held liable for complications or reduced results caused by failure to follow aftercare instructions.
